Why This Boxster S
The current owner is a professional collector-car appraiser who approached the purchase of this Porsche with an emphasis on finding a car that would be both enjoyable to drive and desirable to own.
The 986 Boxster S combines a mid-engine layout, naturally aspirated flat-six, hydraulic steering, and 6-speed manual transmission in a relatively lightweight Porsche sports car.
When purchased, the priorities were low mileage, limited ownership, a good history, desirable equipment, and evidence of proper care. This car offered that combination.
Driver-Focused Configuration
The combination of mid-engine balance, naturally aspirated flat-six power, hydraulic steering, and a true 6-speed manual transmission gives the 986 Boxster S the analog character that has become increasingly uncommon in newer sports cars.
Ownership History
The Porsche was purchased by the current owner in 2019 from a broker in Indianapolis, who had acquired the car from Boca Raton, Florida.
It has never served as the current owner's daily driver. During the past seven years, it has been garage kept and never driven in the rain, with most use limited to fair-weather spring, summer, and fall weekends.
The car has been maintained as something worth preserving, but also as a Porsche meant to be driven and enjoyed.

The original Porsche factory build / option label remains with the car and documents its factory configuration.

IMS Bearing
The car retains its original IMS bearing.
The current owner specifically discussed preventive IMS replacement with Porsche service specialists. Based upon the car's mileage, maintenance history, and condition, the owner reports being advised not to replace the bearing preventively and followed that recommendation.
Condition & Care
The Porsche presents very well for its age and mileage and reflects the care it has received during current ownership.
The Black over Black combination is classic and understated. In July 2026, the exterior was professionally ceramic coated by Luxury Car Care.
The owner's approach has been to maintain the car consistently rather than wait for problems to develop. Recent work includes a complete service, four new Michelin tires, a new battery, and replacement of the ignition lock assembly by Porsche Cincinnati Kings.
Current Maintenance
The car is represented as current on service and maintenance and ready to drive and enjoy.
